Senior Hamas Commander Killed in Israeli Strike in Southern Gaza
The commander of the Khan Younis Brigade of Hamas’s military wing was killed in an Israeli strike on Thursday evening in the Gaza Strip, according to the Israeli military and Hamas’s Al-Qassam Brigades.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Shin Bet internal security agency said in a joint statement on Friday that Hamas commander Muhammad Yazouri was killed in an airstrike on Thursday night in southern Gaza.
The statement said that Yazouri was responsible for leading attacks against Israeli soldiers and rebuilding the brigade’s forces. It added that two other armed members of Hamas were also killed in the strike.
In a statement, the Al-Qassam Brigades confirmed Yazouri’s death, saying that he had played a significant role in planning Hamas’s attack on Israel on October 7, 2023.
